Conac Polizu
Conac
Polizu Manor was built in 1878 by the Ghica princely family in a neoclassical architectural style. Until 1946 the manor represented the summer residence for the family and its following heirs.
However, in 1946 it succumbed under the atrociousness of the communist regime. Until 2006 it suffered outrageous degradations. For example, 24560 volumes coming from the family's library, some of which rare were all burnt. The entire furniture was destroyed, burnt or stolen. Very few pieces were recovered and restored. During this period it functioned as a military barrack or was included inside forms of communist administration.
Fortunately, in 2005 the manor was introduced in a process of restoration that lasted for five years. The smallest details were taken into consideration, through the concept of offering its initial form, by combing the comfort and luxurious atmosphere of the end of the XIX-th century with the necessities of a modern tourist.
